They started me on 25 mg, but I was having several side effects. They lowered it to 12.5 once a day. I had gone to my GP and told them the problems and she suggested going with the immediate Metoprolol . Well.I went back to the Dr., & he took me off the Metropolol, after a very short weaning period. I was only on the Metropolol less than 3 weeks. About 2 1/2 yrs ago, I was put on Atenolol, which as you may know is another beta-blocker. I have not had any problems with Atenolol, & I take 50mg 1xday.About a month ago, was feeling lousy, some dizziness, fairly low pulse (low to mid 50’s). Did bunch of tests and stress test, and determined dose was too high, so initially cut dose in half. Went back and cut dose in half again, then went for ekg last week and cardiologist took me off it completely.
