The genus Lophophyllidium has been dis-cussed at length by several workers (e.g. Jef-fords, 1942, p. 211-213). Serious taxonomic problems remain with respect to the type species of the genus, L. proliferum (McChes-ney), and with the Kendrick Shale species, seemingly L. profundum.
